About us

The Congleton & District Fly-Fishers was established in the early eighties, emerging as a beacon for local fly-fishing enthusiasts. From its inception, the club sought to promote not only the art of fly-fishing for trout but also to foster a sense of community engagement. This dedication to inclusivity manifested through various initiatives, such as open days, where individuals of all ages could experience the joys of fishing. Furthermore, the club provided free tuition and the loan of equipment, allowing novices and seasoned anglers alike to connect with nature and develop their skills without the barriers of cost.

In addition to these educational efforts, the Congleton & District Fly-Fishers also organised open competitions, encouraging friendly rivalry and camaraderie among participants. These competitions not only showcased the talents of local anglers but also served to strengthen community ties and promote conservation awareness. As the club continued to grow, it became a vital part of the regional fishing landscape, celebrating both the sport of fly-fishing and the shared values of community, education, and sustainability.

Prices

In our fishery, we operate on a fundamentally volunteer-driven model where every individual involved contributes their time and effort without any form of financial compensation, such as salaries or expenses. This commitment to volunteerism allows us to focus on the sustainability of our fishing community and the well-being of our waters. To ensure the fishery remains viable and to cover ongoing operational costs, we charge for fishing through the sale of day-tickets and annual memberships. The revenue generated from these sales is essential for monthly fish stocking and managing daily expenses, which include vital activities like fuel for maintenance equipment, grass cutting, and fence repairs. This approach not only fosters a sense of community but also enables us to maintain and improve our facility for the enjoyment of all anglers.
